Abstract: With Internet of Things (IoT) now in the forefront of building construction and operation as well as plans to get people back into buildings post- COVID-19, it is more important than ever to ensure your cyber security strategy is able to keep up with advancements and protect your tenants and your assets. This paper will explain the cyber security risks inherent in a smart building and what you can do to address those risks from the very beginning with a well-designed strategy in line with the construction of a smart building or the retrofit of an existing building to be ‘smart’. You will understand not only the importance of a cyber smart strategy but also the overall approach and specific steps and components required to develop the strategy.
