Airport city developments: An airport investor's perspective

Peter Poungias

Journal of Airport Management, 2009, vol. 4, issue 1, 14-22

Abstract: Since the 1990s, airports have been developing business operations outside the immediate field of aviation. In this context, the outstanding infrastructure which successful airports necessarily possess becomes a decisive locational advantage. Given an appropriate site and the right infrastructure, airports can be developed into airport cities. But not every airport is suitable for such development. This paper describes the factors key to the success of an airport city — above all, an individual purpose-designed approach integrated in the overall airport strategy.
