Abstract:
Mishandled baggage costs the air transport industry around US$2.5 bn annually. With passenger traffic growing by 4.7 per cent per year over the next two decades, baggage will become a big issue for the industry. A solution to guarantee the safe delivery of bags is proving difficult to find. This research provides an insight into the causal factors of baggage mishandling, identifies the root causes of mishandling and proposes some remedial measures for reducing the mishandling of baggage.
