The privatisation of Madinah Airport, Saudi Arabia

Abstract:
The first privatisation of an entire airport in the Arabian Gulf was concluded at Madinah airport, Saudi Arabia on 21st June, 2012, and represented a milestone for traditional airport transactions. This paper discusses Saudi Arabia's progressive experience with airport public–private partnership, summarises the award-winning Islamic finance structure, and presents the results of the first nine months of this pioneering transaction.
