Abstract:
The safety management team is a vital element of all safety-related information, including hazard reports, risk assessments, incident reports and claim mitigation. In accordance with our strategic objectives to maintain a safe and secure facility, we have embraced Safety Management System (SMS) components to operate our programme at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL). The safety data generated from SMS is crucial to the overall goal of developing relevant key performance indicators (KPI) to show the big picture on safety airport wide. ATL is implementing SMS that will provide real examples, lessons learned, incorporating best practices, new methods and processes to enhance operational safety of our airport facility. Airport management need to understand how it can receive, process and analyse various facility hazards to reduce and mitigate risks associated with day-to-day operations. A systematic approach for your safety programmes is a step in the right direction.
