Journal of Building Survey, Appraisal & Valuation, 2015, vol. 3, issue 4, 374-380
Abstract:
This paper deals with the design of a bespoke waterproofing system in accordance with BS 8102 — 2009. This is the British Standards Institute Code of Practice for Protection of Below Ground Structures Against Water from the Ground. The paper provides a synopsis of the problems of and solutions to providing drainage and underground waterproofing in a retail unit in Glasgow. In this case the client was sub-letting the commercial unit, and as part of the conditions, the basement area had to be renovated to make it usable for storage of stock and other non-specific materials.
