Abstract: This paper addresses the ever-changing landscape of structural waterproofing design and installation owing to the publication of the Building Safety Act and its impact, or lack thereof, across this sector. The paper sets out the principles of the Building Safety Act for the construction industry and breaks down where and what industry professionals can expect to experience in the future based on the new legislation. It addresses where the Building Safety Act is applicable within the structural waterproofing sector, and why. Challenges faced by the waterproofing proofing sector and the industry as a whole due to the new regime are discussed. The reader should take away a greater understanding of the Act and what it means in real-world situations for structural waterproofing.
