Abstract:
The distribution of images created by institutions has become bogged down in recent years due to changing photographic technologies and the broader concerns about violating copyright through image distribution. Through the employment of a digital asset management (DAM) system, organisations have the ability to more efficiently retain and supplement critical rights information in their image files’ metadata and to gain a better understanding of the copyright status of their collection assets. Implementation of a DAM system can streamline image management and in turn expand partnerships with external distributors of collection images by drastically decreasing the amount of additional work required by all parties.
