Abstract: This paper describes the establishment of a video-tape digitisation factory and an archive asset management system at the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority, in the United Arab Emirates. It explains the context for the decision to adopt in-house digitisation, along with the arguments for adopting the proposed solution. Special focus is put on the preservation process, cataloguing needs, integration with production asset management systems, multi-site setup and disaster recovery solutions.
