Abstract: This paper describes the successes and setbacks of a 12-year project to digitise over 150,000 hours of audiovisual footage from France’s overseas territories. After a brief overview of the major milestones of the project, the paper focuses on technical and metadata processing issues, and the various unexpected problems that were faced along the way.
