Abstract:
This paper presents the fireside chat session on data governance that was held as part of the 2021 Henry Stewart Festival of DAM. The session, titled ‘Governing your data in a world of constant change’, was conducted by John Horodyski, Managing Director, Insights & Analytics at Salt Flats, and Michelle Roell, Taxonomist, Editorial Creative at Netflix. The paper documents not only their discussion, but also expands on the importance of data governance, how to set up and run a governance committee, and where to look for further guidance and recommendations. The discussion also covers the importance of diversifying the information science field so that new perspectives and voices can participate on an equal basis.
