Providing pageable access to born-digital materials at the Bancroft Library

Abstract: This paper describes the steps taken to provide access to born-digital archival material at the University of California, Berkeley, Bancroft Library. It also explores the concept of pageable containers as it applies to born-digital archival materials and the challenges with existing systems and standards designed for digital material. In the context of providing access through existing integrated technical systems, the author describes the conceptual underpinnings of these systems and how by working collaboratively with stakeholders, creative solutions were developed for the purpose of providing access.
