Dominant mobile payment approaches and leading mobile payment solution providers: A review

Abstract: Emerging solutions enabling consumers to pay for goods and services using mobile phones are disrupting established payments models and generating business opportunities for new and established players. This paper categorises the dominant mobile payment approaches and highlights the leading mobile payment solution providers within each segment. It identifies barriers and drivers of the mobile payment market and projects short-term and long-term growth prospects for the various mobile payment solution types. Finally, it offers guidance for payment industry players acting in the mobile payment market space.
