Real-time monitoring reduces costs, enables supply chain transparency, and contributes to a sustainable society

Abstract:
Internet of Things (IoT) for transportation helps companies address their challenges with sustainability. Transportation and logistics-related IoT spending is expected to grow from US$10bn in 2015 to US$40bn by 2020.1 Companies have started to see the great potential and positive impact of IoT on their shipments and are now considering it to be an investment rather than an expense. Reaching sustainability goals has now moved far beyond compliance. The technical barriers to implement IoT for transportation are reducing as the products and solutions become even smarter. This paper focuses on the positive gain of introducing real-time monitoring of shipments.
