Operational due diligence considerations for multi-jurisdictional hedge fund analysis

Journal of Securities Operations & Custody, 2007, vol. 1, issue 1, 33-40
Abstract:
It is important for potential investors to be cognisant of the specific challenges that arise when performing non-investment-related due diligence on these multinational organisations. The unique multi-jurisdictional considerations touch many areas of a firm, including those of compliance, operations, the back office, service provider relationships, and business continuity and disaster recovery planning. Investors should also be cognisant of issues that are external to a specific hedge fund, including the state of the current regulatory environment and relevant tax regimes. In addition to gaining an initial understanding of these risk factors, investors should continually monitor them via ongoing due diligence.
