Transformation in the central securities depositories business: The Turkish example

Abstract: This paper begins with an introduction on the changing roles of CSDs along the CSD business value chain. Then it gives a short history of the CSD of Turkey’s (MKK’s) transformation from a core depository services provider into a Research and Development Center by providing information on the various value-added services that were developed by the CSD. In the last section, the paper presents future trends in the CSD business that utilize emerging technologies, concluding that CSDs need to diversify their services considering the rapid pace of evolution in the business.
