Abstract:
This paper addresses the issue of urban regeneration with reference to Turin, the Italian prototypical one-company town, but also the post-industrial city, the city questing for a new identity and a new growth model. The objective of the paper is twofold. The first aim is to describe the change in urban regeneration policies in Italy; the second is to discuss the difficulties and opportunities of urban regeneration practices. Mainly referring to Turin's experience, the reflection on positive and critical aspects also provides some useful suggestions to practitioners across Europe and even North America.
