City of the future: Time to jettison the Jetsons’ vision of cities

Abstract: It is time to move beyond a 1950s, auto-based vision of cities and look instead to model cities of the future from Boulder, Colorado, to Barcelona, Spain. This paper explores nine features that define sustainable cities, from walkable and welcoming neighbourhoods to easy-to-use transit in social and beautiful places.
