Abstract:
This paper summarises key trends affecting the provision of visitor accommodation. In doing so, it highlights both the drivers and potential implications, with particular regard to those relevant to the planning and design of new developments. In raising awareness of these issues beyond those in the hospitality sector, it facilitates consideration by built environment professionals, in both research and practice, as those who must respond to these changes in order to properly plan for and assess future proposals for visitor accommodation in the city.
