Abstract:
This paper analyses how healthcare organisations must change as obsolete traditional ERP (enterprise resource planning) systems are replaced by cloud-based SaaS (software-as-a-service) technology. The adoption of a SaaS system will significantly impact how health organisations evaluate and select ERP providers from a cost and security perspective, as well as manage the relationship with their chosen vendor. It will also allow organisations to approach changes in business processes in a more agile way. The paper discusses how the fundamental changes will best prepare organisations for successful implementations and allow them to obtain sustainable long-term financial benefits and a competitive advantage in the marketplace. As we explore the concepts of cloud technology, its challenges and the future impact on companies, we will provide readers with a better understanding of the important components of a SaaS ERP/Human Capital Management (HCM) and, ultimately, its essential benefits. Additionally, the paper highlights principal considerations that organisations must evaluate when considering potential ERP providers and what typically leads to successful collaborative partnerships. Finally, this paper will outline the best practices that successful implementations commonly follow.
