Abstract: To date, few contributions have applied the theory of planned behavior (Tpb) to financial decisions. The paper aims to investigate the applicability of Tpb in predicting the intentions of Italian retail customers to apply for medium/highrisk financial products. We also test the role of financial education in affecting retail investors’ financial decisions. Our results suggest that each Tpb construct contributes to explain the Italian retail customer intention to apply for a medium/high-risk financial product, while financial literacy shows no predictive power
