Abstract:
The Coronavirus pandemic is causing severe shocks across the European Union, both for the health of citizens and the economic system. The Ecb has launched a package of extraordinary measures, with loans in favor of banks which can be granted on very favorable terms. But such interventions may prove insufficient. The proposal for an intervention, specific for the Eurozone, in support of businesses and employment, based on Euro Zero Coupon Bond issues, could prove to be not only effective in helping companies and financial markets but also in financing major healthcare costs.
