Internationalization of the R&D Activity – Organizational Forms and Concepts

Abstract: The study proves the direct connection between the processes of internationalization of R&D activity and the organizational conceptions for their carrying out. Revealed are the scales and outlined are the main tendencies of the processes of internationalization of this specific firm activity. Based on this are determined the moving forces of the R&D development in the international environment, which contributes for its commercialization and turns it into a stake for increasing the firm competitiveness. The complexity and dynamics of the market environment provoke the creation of variable organizational structures for realization of R&D in the frames of the different corporations. The big variety is explained with the necessity to optimize the corporate costs for innovations and to form bigger flexibility, which will contribute for acquiring competitive advantages. The increasing complexity and preciseness of the research activity throw the development of the inter-firm cooperation in direction towards creation of strategic alliances, with the help of which is achieved diversification of the financial and decrease of the investment risk concerning the contemporary scales of the technological innovation.
