Economic Studies journal, 2025, issue 1, 156-173

Abstract: The Green Deal in agriculture has the ambitious goal of making agriculture greener, more sustainable, more viable and contributing to limiting greenhouse gas emissions. The consequences of the Green Deal in agriculture are still unknown, but various publications discuss the expected effects of the Green Deal on the livestock and crop sectors in the EU. The aim is to systematize scientific publications from the Scopus and Web of Science databases, which are related to the assessment of the effects of the implementation of the European Green Deal, the Common Agricultural Policy, and the EU and UN Sustainable Development Goals until 2030. The systematization and the evaluation are based on a meta-analysis. With meta-analysis, a comprehensive overview is achieved by integrating the results of the scientific research, as well as by comparing the economic and agroecological effects. The findings indicate there are both challenges and opportunities, which are intertwined.
