Abstract: The purpose of this paper was to explore the lived experiences of a woman from a non-dominant racial group in academia. It examined some of the obstacles to effective organizational socialization she encountered, which manifested as micro-aggressive behavior and other marginalizing activities. When the light at the end of the tunnel began to flicker, she found innovative strategies to attain her goals. This paper emphasized the tactics utilized by a woman to maintain her sanity in a world of chaos. It detailed some of her barriers to success from the perspective of organizational socialization, and it identified strategies that enabled her to thrive.
