Abstract: This paper examines the key distinctions between qualitative and quantitative research in terms of theory and data, from the point view of epistemology and ontology. The paper highlights the distinct concepts of qualitative and quantitative research. Analysis was based on secondary sources of data from the Library. The paper is divided into the following subsections: Background information, statement of the problem and project theories. The discussions of the study shed more light on epistemological distinction between qualitative and quantitative research, the ontological distinctions between qualitative and quantitative research.
