Abstract: It has been observed that registry staff of universities in South- West Nigeria has lots of challenges in proper keeping and maintenance of students and staff records. Misplaced or loss of records delay necessary actions on urgent matters, or lead to irrational decisions, which may translate to an embarrassment to the organization. Also the mounting rise of paperwork requirements continues to accelerate on daily basis. Technology is consistently being used to convert paper records into electronic format presenting a change in a way records have to be managed. One of the problems also confronting registry staff in the digital age relates to security of information held in electronic media and the privacy of records. This study therefore, reviewed the activities of registry staff in higher institutions of learning with respect to the records management practices and organizational effectiveness of registry staff in universities in South West Nigeria.
