Abstract: Given the swift moral and cultural transformations occurring in the Western world, such as the new definition of marriage, it has become common for biblical scholars to seek validation for these significant changes in family structure and sexuality by referencing the Bible. Nevertheless, proponents of same-sex marriage rights generally do not want to eliminate or render conventional marital rituals irrelevant. However, despite potential reinterpretations of some words pertaining to marriage, such as the definition of biblical marriage, these individuals are cautious to recognize the inherent value of heterosexual relationships as established by God in the Bible.
