Students’ Perception of Implementation of Compulsory Community Engagement via Service Learning in a Malaysian University

Abstract: Service learning is being implemented at the higher education level as part of the academic programme. Malaysia has made this a nationwide initiative with public universities expected to integrate service learning in some of their programs. The International Islamic University Malaysia has extended this to make community engagement via service learning a compulsory course for undergraduates. This study looks at students’ perception for having to undergo this compulsory course.
