This study objective is to propose a framework for examining the mediating effect of creativity between innovation and SMEs performance in North East Nigeria. Small and medium scale enterprises are essential to economic development as they help boost the economic activities and employment opportunities in every country. SMES significantly contribute to the growth and expansion of the worldwide economies, most importantly the developing nations. SME performance will be the dependent variable, while the innovation will serve as the independent variable of the study. It is suggested that empirical research be conducted on the relationship between the study variables across multiple states and region of Nigeria.
