Abstract:
The “Project Good Life,†launched by the 53rd Infantry Battalion and Josefina H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) in partnership with the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC), aims to reintegrate former rebels (FRs) into civilian society through psychoeducation and livelihood programs. The program addresses the complex challenges faced by FRs, including trauma, stigma, and limited resources, while fostering trust in government initiatives. Through structured activities such as art therapy, vocational training, and community reintegration efforts, participants gain skills and confidence to rebuild their lives. Using Focus Group Discussions and Key Informant Interviews, this study examines the lived experiences of FRs in Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga Sibugay, and Zamboanga del Norte, revealing both the transformative impact of “Project Good Life†and persistent gaps in service delivery. Despite initial mistrust, FRs gradually embrace government support, contributing to economic productivity and community development. Recommendations include streamlining processes, enhancing community acceptance, and ensuring program sustainability.
