Abstract: This study explores the impact of strategic leadership on the operational performance of firms in Zimbabwe’s haulage transport sector. The sector, critical for the movement of goods and services, faces challenges such as infrastructural inadequacies and regulatory hurdles, which hinder efficiency and growth. Using a mixed-methods approach, the study reveals a strong positive correlation (r = 0.875) between strategic leadership and operational performance. Transformational leadership emerged as particularly effective in enhancing efficiency, customer satisfaction, and overall competitiveness. Findings highlight that strategic leadership practices, such as effective communication and employee development, are essential for fostering innovation and adaptability. The study emphasizes the need for investment in strategic leadership to enhance performance and ensure sustainability in this vital sector.
