Abstract: This study aims to identify and address translation issues in Malaysian Tamil online news platforms, with a focus on improving accuracy and reducing the spread of misinformation. The study is based on Peter Newmark’s Translation Theory (1988), which provides a framework for analyzing translation accuracy and effectiveness. The research employs a text analysis method to examine translated content from various Malaysian Tamil online news platforms. The findings indicate that many translations on these platforms are inaccurate compared to the source text, leading to the dissemination of false information. The study highlights the challenges faced by translators and emphasizes the need for careful and precise translation to maintain the credibility and impact of news content across different language communities. The study suggests the importance of improving translation practices in media to ensure accurate communication and prevent the spread of misinformation. This research provides valuable insights into the quality of media translations in the context of Malaysian Tamil news platforms, contributing to the broader understanding of translation accuracy in digital media.
