Abstract:
On 1st March of 2012, the Banque de France hosted Professor Thomas J. Sargent, winner of the Nobel Prize in Economics in 2011, to give a lecture. In this lecture, Professor Sargent compared institutional and political choices made by the United States in 1780 and 1840 and those currently faced by the euro area.
