Abstract: There is now a consensus on the need for strong action to boost research. On the occasion of the Banque de France Foundation’s 20th anniversary, it seems fitting to take stock of the Bank’s policy on research and to examine how its patronage has encouraged “cross fertilisation” between the bank’s teams and the research community.
