Strategic Planning and Organizational Digitization of Kisumu Law Courts, Kisumu County, Kenya

Abstract:
Purpose: This study evaluated the effects of strategic planning on organizational digitization at Kisumu law courts. The study specifically sought to assess the effects of organizational environmental scanning, organizational direction, management participation and strategy implementation on organizational digitization of Kisumu law courts. Methodology: A descriptive research design was used. The target population comprised of 130 respondents comprising of judicial staffs working in in Kisumu law courts. A census approach was applied where all the respondents were involved in the study. The study used questionnaires to gather data. The study applied both descriptive and inferential statistics to analyze the collected data. Descriptive statistics comprised of mean and standard deviation while the inferential statics comprised of correlation and regression analysis. The statistics were generated through Statistical Package for Social Statistics and results presented in form table and figures. Findings: The study established that strategic planning comprising of organizational direction, organizational direction, management participation, and strategy implementation accounts for 65.1% of variations in organizational digitalization of Kisumu law courts. The regression analysis results revealed that strategic planning (organizational direction, organizational direction, management participation and strategy implementation) positively and significantly affects organizational digitization of Kisumu law courts. This is shown by beta values of 0.313, 0.306, 0.486 and 0.278 and corresponding significance values of 0.002, 0.006, 0.000 and 0.012 respectively. Implications to theory, practice and policy: This bears the implications that increasing either organizational direction, organizational direction, management participation or strategy implementation with one units to an increase in the levels of organizational digitization with respective beta values. The study provided recommendations to the management of Kisumu law courts to enhance the aspects of strategic planning comprising of organizational direction, organizational direction, management participation and strategy implementation since the practices contributes to enhanced organizational digitization.
