Abstract:
In the context of modern global transformations, technology is the main catalyst for increasing business competitiveness. High-tech companies are using available resources more and more productively, conquering new markets, disrupting traditional industries, and offering higher rewards to their staff. Concentrated mainly in the information technology sector, they are the most active contributors to the development of international trade and are the drivers of qualitative growth in other sectors of the global economic system. At the same time, existing scientific publications and regulatory practices in individual countries have not yet developed a unified approach that would allow for the clear identification of the technological level of sectors and companies, which makes research focused on systematizing existing knowledge and definitions of the phenomenon of high technology particularly relevant. Due to the vagueness of ideas about what exactly can be attributed to such a business entity, high-tech companies are quite difficult to identify. Content analysis and systematization of existing approaches to understanding the essence of the phenomenon of a high-tech IT company are multifaceted and have made it possible to identify the main components of a high-tech enterprise, which can be represented as a “6I†system: idea, invention or imitation, interaction, investment, informatization (digitalization), income generation. Different variations of the combination of these six components form the uniqueness of each high-tech IT business entity and the value it generates. The article analyzes the main functions of high-tech companies in the modern global market. Another result of the study was the authors' identification of a set of basic skills and competencies that an individual engaged in high-tech business activities should possess.
