Abstract: The European Union (EU) is a complex and multi-faceted political and economic union that has experienced significant developments since its establishment in 1957 (European Union, 2021). A key challenge faced by the EU in its decision-making process is the issue of delay, which refers to the time lag between initiating a policy proposal and its final implementation (Börzel, 2013). This research paper provides a comprehensive analysis of the delay process within the EU, examining its causes, consequences, and potential solutions. By exploring the factors contributing to delays in EU decision-making, this study aims to illuminate the challenges the EU faces in overcoming these delays and effectively implementing policies (Hix, 2008). Through a critical examination of the impact of delay on the EU’s governance and its ability to address pressing issues, this paper contributes to the existing literature on EU governance and decision-making processes (Nugent, 2017).
