Abstract: The study sought to identify the determinants that influence Sierra Leonean households’ out-of-pocket healthcare expenditure. The research explicitly examined the demographic and socioeconomic determinants that impact out-of-pocket healthcare expenditure by households in Sierra Leone. The study was based on the positivism philosophy and used secondary data from the 2018 Siera Leone Household Integrated Survey to address the study objectives. Logistic regression analysis was conducted to see whether there were any relationships between the dependent and independent variables. The analysis revealed that Sierra Leone’s out-of-pocket healthcare expenditure is influenced by several demographic and socio-economic determinants which should be monitored by the policymakers.
