Abstract: This comprehensive review synthesizes current evidence regarding the role of vitamin D in maintaining and promoting eye health. A systematic literature search was conducted across four databases: PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, and Google Scholar. Forty-five peer-reviewed studies were included based on predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria. Evidence suggests that vitamin D deficiency is associated with various ocular conditions, including dry eye syndrome, diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, and glaucoma. This review outlines the mechanisms by which vitamin D may influence ocular physiology and pathology and highlights gaps for future research.
