Abstract: Flow cytometry has been essential in cell biology, allowing real-time analysis of individual cells, however, limitations in spectral resolution and the ability to measure multiple parameters simultaneously restricted its application, spectral flow cytometry (SCF) solved these limitations by allowing complete capture of emission spectra, which increased the accuracy of the analysis and allowed the evaluation of up to 40 parameters in one cell. This has driven advances in immunology, oncology and autoimmune diseases, but despite its advantages, the high initial investment and complexity in data management remain barriers to its adoption. It is proposed that the combination with emerging technologies such as nanotechnology and artificial intelligence could revolutionize personalized medicine, improving the speed and accuracy of diagnoses.
