Forest Path Treatment Method to Promote Wellness Tourism: Concept Paper for Economic Development in Sri Lanka

Abstract: Tourism makes a direct contribution to the economic development of a country. For this, creative and quality projects are being implemented in various countries of the world. Attention should be paid to new creative projects for the development of the tourism industry. It seems that both domestic and foreign tourists are interested in visiting Sri Lanka, a developing country. It is a timely need to focus on wellness activities to promote tourism in Sri Lanka, which is blessed with natural beauty and ancient cultural heritage. Accordingly, the purpose of this study is to examine the feasibility of introducing the “Forest Path Treatment Method†(FPTM) to promote tourism in Sri Lanka. Data was collected for this purpose based on literature review, participatory observation, field notes and friendly discussions with tourists. Accordingly, the concept paper has been created based on thematic analysis.
