Abstract: Essential services and utilities are necessary for labs to run, stay safe, and work well. This paper gives a full overview of recent studies that focus on how to plan, design, and run important services and utilities in laboratories. The paper talks about important utilities like electricity, water, laboratory gases, HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning), compressed air, vacuum systems, and waste management. The paper talks about how important it is to follow international rules and standards, looks at the problems that come up in both old and new facilities, and looks at new technologies that could help with utility management. This review is meant to help facility planners, engineers, and laboratory managers create laboratories that are safe, environmentally friendly, and support scientific progress.
