Abstract: The refugee crisis is a pervasive and complex issue that has plagued the international community for decades. Africa, in particular, has been beset by numerous conflicts, natural disasters, and humanitarian crises, resulting in the displacement of millions of people. This article examines the problems faced by refugees in international law, with a focus on the causative factors and solutions in some African countries. The article begins by exploring the concept of refugee protection in international law, highlighting the relevant treaties, conventions, and protocols that govern refugee protection. It then delves into the causative factors of refugee flows in Africa, including conflict, persecution, poverty, and environmental degradation. The article also examines the challenges faced by refugees in Africa, such as inadequate access to healthcare, education, and employment opportunities. The article concludes by proposing solutions to the refugee crisis in Africa, including the strengthening of international cooperation and burden-sharing, the enhancement of refugee protection and assistance, and the promotion of durable solutions such as repatriation, local integration, and resettlement.
