A successful application of punched cards in subject indexing

Abstract:
A description is given of the successful application of punched‐card technique in the rapid preparation of a subject index to a voluminous technical work. The use of punched cards permitted rapid and inexpensive preparation of numerous preliminary and partial drafts of the index which greatly facilitated the tasks of coordination and editing.
