Parameters for machine handling of alphabetic information

Abstract:
The following parameters for mechanization of bibliographical information are discussed: The universe must encompass a relatively large quantity of material; there must be multiple access to entries; material should respond to repeated rearrangement; the basic file must be susceptible of large change‐rates; the subject field must lack good bibliographical control; the basic file must be one that is used frequently; the material should be needed in multiple physical locations.
