On a theory of documentation
Eugene E. Graziano
American Documentation, 1968, vol. 19, issue 1, 85-89
Abstract:
All of the phenomena of the field of documentation may be classified under the notions of the three forms of: material, ideational, and energy. It is suggested that the phenomenological method may be advantageously applied to documentation in conjunction with the methods of speculative philosophy. Examples are offered to illustrate how such methods may illuminate some of the more fundamental problem areas of the field, such as the problems of identification and “information” by yielding operational definitions.
