The Macroeconomic Implications of Current Fiscal Policy

Abstract: Exchange rate changes and intertemporal consumption responses suggest that the short‐run impact of current fiscal policy on aggregate demand will be small. However, cuts to public expenditure may have undesirable long‐term consequences.
