Abstract:
Algorithm AS 10 is an implementation by Cooper (1968) of a recursion method due to Forsythe (1957) for computing orthogonal polynomial values. For the special case of equally spaced points, there exists a simplification of this method observed by Fisher and Yates (1957) and given in (1) below, which in certain applications can result in a significant savings in storage, computing time and programming effort.
