Abstract:
For several years the Royal College of General Practitioners has been collecting together data supplied by doctors throughout Britain. We describe here an attempt to computerize some of this information and analyse it statistically. The particular aspect investigated is the influence on the infectiousness of certain diseases by external factors such as climatic variables. A model is fitted involving a non‐homogeneous two‐state Markov chain whose transition probabilities are governed by the explanatory data.
